The Canon Envirothon is North America's largest high school environmental education competition. The mission of the Canon Envirothon is to develop knowledgeable skilled and dedicated citizens who have an understanding of natural resources and are willing and prepared to work towards achieving and maintaining a balance between the quality of life and the quality of the environment. The Yukon Envirothon has been conducted since 2005. Competitions have been held twice a year, in both semesters. The Yukon Competitions have studied areas within Whitehorse that have been the focus of public concern. Four different areas have been the subject of student studies and analysis. One will be the subject of the current Envirothon.
The Spring 2014 Yukon Envirothon will be at the Spook Creek Site. The Envirothon challenge will be held on May 22nd. Presentation finals for the Spring 2014 Envirothon will be held on May 29th.

These are divided into five broad areas: Water studies, Biome studies, Soils studies, Land Use studies and Wildlife studies.
